The KLINIKUM-KLAGENFURT located at Lake Wörthersee is Austria’s third largest hospital and a modern health clinic with a wide-range spectrum of

outstanding medical services. It is also part of Europe’s leading centers of excellence. Annually, over 78,000 inpatients and 300,000 outpatients are treated at KABEG.

Project Requirements

A total of 750 rolling containers are moved through underground gangways by means of 61 unmanned transport vehicles, bringing meals, laundry, refuse, sterile goods and medical supplies to their destination. All hospital areas such as bed storage zones, the main kitchen and laundry as well as a number of other functional areas, supply as well as disposal areas, are connected via a 14-kilometer underground tunnel network. KLATT was in charge of providing the buffer sections, interfacing the individual areas, pick-up and drop-off of the ATS and interfacing with the container cleaning system.

In the course of rebuilding of even then Europe’s most modern hospital, KLATT was awarded the contract for building the container conveyor system for meals, laundry, etc.
